Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the gained 1.28% to hit a new all time high, while the index gained 1.22%.

The best performers of the session on the were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:), which rose 7.39% or 64.00 points to trade at 929.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd (NS:) added 6.54% or 20.65 points to end at 336.55 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:) was up 6.30% or 16.50 points to 278.55 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.85% or 65.55 points to trade at 3476.10 at the close. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:) declined 1.43% or 32.55 points to end at 2237.00 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:) was down 1.39% or 27.60 points to 1955.10.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which rose 7.23% to 928.20, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which was up 3.24% to settle at 10032.15 and Infosys Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.90% to close at 1309.25.

The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.47% to 2237.00 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.29% to settle at 1957.00 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.70% to 5500.10 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 990 to 680 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1652 rose and 1274 declined, while 180 ended unchanged.

Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 7.39% or 64.00 to 929.50. Shares in Tata Motors Ltd (NS:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.54% or 20.65 to 336.55. Shares in Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:) rose to 3-years highs; rising 6.30% or 16.50 to 278.55. Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 7.23% or 62.60 to 928.20. Shares in Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; rising 3.24% or 314.65 to 10032.15.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.32% to 23.9575.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.02% or 0.45 to $1813.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.14% or 0.65 to hit $57.50 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.46 to trade at $60.02 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.21% to 72.963, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 87.7555.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 91.183.
